BPIF publishes version 2 of the BPIF ISO12647 Colour Quality Management Scheme.

BPIF publishes version 2 of the BPIF ISO12647 Colour Quality Management Scheme.

The BPIF is delighted to confirm that version 2 of the Scheme has been successfully completed, enabling companies from all sections of the industry to obtain full independent certification under the BPIF ISO12647 Scheme.

The BPIF has developed a UK Certification Scheme for ISO12647, knowing that as with Quality and Environmental Standards, buyers will expect auditing and certification from UKAS accredited certification bodies. In response to such customer demands, a growing number of UK printing companies are working towards this standard, and the BPIF are working with both certification bodies and UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) to enable companies to obtain this. The Scheme requirements document, on which this will be audited against, is available from the BPIF [email protected]

Working to meet the exacting standards of the BPIF Scheme and the requirements of UKAS, companies will be able to implement best practice throughout the whole production process. What is also very encouraging is that companies will enjoy clear production benefits that will be generated by the implementation of this scheme.

Commenting on this, Daniel Godden, BPIF Consultancy, adds:

"The ISO12647-2 was developed for sheet fed and heat set web offset companies but we've found that the increasing demand for independent certification that is UKAS accredited has been from digital and packaging companies using other printing methods such as flexo and gravure"

"Now if a customer comes to you and says 'I want an ISO12647 job,' version 2 of the BPIF ISO12647 Colour Quality Management scheme has been expanded to cover these printing methods.''

He goes on to add that this scheme has benefited from a wide range of stakeholders within the industry, from printers to suppliers, to ensure that good printing practices are encouraged across all departments.'

'This Scheme will lead to standardised production and consistent colour regardless of production process or substrate. It will maintain a consistently accurate colour critical product, that will reduce waste and support production of the best possible product for your customers.'

By making this rigorous and UKAS accredited customers of the industry can have absolute confidence in the colour quality claims made by printers certified for the BPIF ISO12647 Colour Quality Management Scheme.
