East London printer U4 decks out “battle bus”

Communication Workers Union (CWU) commissioned U4 to print a post card to hang off the side of their double-decker bus. The objective is to get public awareness for the plight of 64 Crown Post Offices that are earmarked to close. Three days into the tour and already there are thousands of signatures. The postcard is 6.7mx2.4m and printed on 440gsm PVC banner material using GS3250UV series printer.

The bus will tour the UK, collecting signatures on the postcard on the way, before ending up in Westminster, where the postcard will be "delivered" by CWU representatives to newly appointed business secretary Greg Clark. Hundreds of jobs could be lost with the closures and the CWU has called for a strike ballot of its members.

The 16 staff, £2m turnover business is regularly producing work for the CWU. Ranging from banners, inflatables, staging and placards.

Following last week's cabinet reshuffle, Greg Clark's name had to be overlaid over former business secretary Sajid Javid at very short notice.

Sales Manager Danny Mackenzie said, "We've done bits and pieces for the CWU before and they loved this install. We do a lot of work, through the Royal Mail, so it is going to affect us then of course it is nice to work with guys like the CWU. It feels like you are putting them in good light"
