BPIF Apprenticeship Programme
The BPIF offer and deliver a very successful Apprenticeship programme in the following occupation areas:
Pre Press, Digital Printing, Conventional Printing (Litho, Flexo, Gravure etc) Print Finishing and also Management qualifications.
The apprenticeship programme consists of three distinct elements:
Functional skills - Numeracy and Literacy
If the candidate has achieved GCSE's in Maths or English at Grade C or above in the last five years they will be exempt from the relevant key skill.
Technical Certificate - This is a City and Guilds qualification
The 4005 Certificate in Printing and Graphic Communications Industry. It was written to complement the NVQ and helps to provide the underpinning knowledge for the NVQ. It is a theory based course and we would ask for the candidate to attend tutorials at Hooper Street, London for one day, approximately every six weeks.
NVQ - This again is a City and Guilds qualification, and is a process of assessment.
The candidate builds a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that they can meet a Nationally recognised standard. A local Training Co-ordinator would be appointed who after conducting an initial assessment and confirming eligibility for the course would build a training plan for the candidate. This will specify the units of the NVQ, when they will be started, target dates for completion, how they will be achieved and what learning checks will be made.
A level 2 will be completed within an 18 month period and a level 3 within a 36 month period.
If an Apprentice is 19 years or older the following employer contributions are required:
Level 2 - The Apprentice trainee is 19 One off initial payment at start of programme £1,200.00 VAT
