BurleighPortishead apprentice given a voice
An apprentice employed by BurleighPortishead, one of the town's leading design and print & direct mail business, has been chosen as the South West region representative on a national print industry council.
Alex Parkin (21), who is a former student at Gordano School, joined BurleighPortishead in April and has already made a great impression.
"Alex has really impressed us with his enthusiasm and the speed he has picked-up the role" said Managing Director, Greg Corrigan.
"The British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF), who are providing Alex's training package, have also been so impressed with his approach to training that they have asked him to join their newly created Apprentice Council which will give a voice to apprentices in the industry throughout the country.
Alex, as the South West region representative will be one of seven from around the UK to make-up the national council and will be travelling to London for the inaugural meeting in November.
Alex commented " To be honest it was a bit of a shock to be nominated for this position but I feel excited to be offered the opportunity and I am looking forward to meeting other people like me in other companies around the country"
