A return to publishing after 100 years

A return to publishing after 100 years

Herefordshire printers and web developers, Orphans Press, have introduced a new service as 'Orphans Publishing' with the launch of their first title, 'While it is Yet Day', a biography of Elizabeth Fry, the well-known Victorian prison reformer and pioneer of nursing.

Fry has been the face of the £5 note for a number of years and Orphans Press director Helen Bowden was captivated by the story of her life. She says, "100 years ago, Orphans was itself a publisher, mainly of Quaker titles. The author, Averil Opperman, is herself a Quaker as is her subject, Elizabeth Fry, so we felt fated to act as publishers. We are in the throes of various launches so it is an exciting time for us. Reaction has been very positive".

There is more about the book on the new Orphans Publishing website here and also on the author's site here.
