Standardised Product Setup Form

The BOSS Synergy Team have developed a standardised Product Setup form, to benefit the whole supply chain. This would set the standard for transactional data and reduce errors and duplication of effort.

A sub-group was set up to develop this form which included manufacturers, Spicers and VOW, dealer groups and the IT service providers.

Standardised Product Setup Form

• The aim was to identify the essential attributes required to sell a product through the supply chain as mandatory fields, with additional optional fields for Rich Product Data which enhances the consumer buying experience, especially online
• The team compared a variety of product setup forms currently in use by manufacturers, wholesalers and dealer groups
• A product setup form with proposed mandatory and recommended fields was developed which gained universal agreement from the team as meeting the needs of the various channels in the industry and was approved following the May Synergy Team meeting

Benefits

• Saves significant time and cost for brand owners by reducing the proliferation of different forms to complete and reduces the risk of errors and omissions
• The standardised form ensures the data necessary for a successful commercial transaction, reducing omissions
• Reduces costs by decreasing the risk of incorrect products or amounts being ordered
• The additional rich content fields provide a best practice guide for all areas of the supply chain
• Improves sales by providing the right information for consumers
