Will Gompertz confirmed as celebrity host for Book Awards Event of the Year
Will is a writer who has penned numerous articles for, among others, The Times and The Guardian. His book, "What are you Looking At? 50 Years of Modern Art in the Blink of an Eye", was published by Penguin in Autumn 2012. In 2009 he wrote and performed a sell-out one-man comedy show about modern art at the Edinburgh Festival
Will was previously a Director of The Tate Gallery where he was responsible for the institution's award-winning on-line presence and for Tate Etc, the UK's highest-circulation art magazine. He also founded the DVD-magazine Shots, covering international short films and commercial promo films, and set up a dedicated arts TV production company, making programmes for Channel 4 and ITV, and even a film with Aardman Animation.
A six-strong panel of industry experts from the areas of design, publishing and production gathered for two days at Oxford Brookes University earlier this year to judge the awards. They went through a tough selection process in order to reach the shortlist decision.
Seats and tables for the event are understandably in hot demand, so to be sure of not missing out on any of the evening's glittering prize-giving, visit www.britishbookawards.org/2013/tickets.aspx to confirm your place.
