The Rubber Stampers (RSMG) have a great weekend on the banks of the Thames

The Rubber Stamp Manufacturers Guild held its Out of Town Weekend 13th to 15th September 2013 at the Swan at Streatley. The Inn is over 300 years old and its setting on the banks of the Thames provided an idyllic location for the gathering. The weekend began on the Friday afternoon with a Directors meeting followed by a General meeting which was well attended. The General meeting covered topics such as the restructuring of Aegraflex, for which an update was provided by Dr. Bachmann and Mr. Lothar Zeitler and Genesius, the initiative to prevent the production of fraudulent identification documents. The meeting concluded with an informative presentation from Michael Gardner, the BOSS Federation CEO on the benefits of membership.

The new President, Nigel Eyre welcomed all at the Friday reception, thanking the overseas guests for making it a truly international event. In attendance, from Europe, Andreas and Beate Reiner, Lothar and Anji Zeitler and Dr Ulrich and Ellen Bachmann and from the U.S.A. Kevin, Charlotte, Mark and Debbie Govin. The Chefs Buffet was followed by a fun night of entertainment with a lesson on how to Ballroom Dance and Jive.

Following breakfast on Saturday a coach picked up guests from the Hotel arriving at the historic city of Oxford 30 minutes later. The now legendary Gala Dinner began with the Presidents Reception at 7.00pm. The president welcomed guests and recited grace before the most incredible 6 course meal. After Dinner the president thanked all the sponsors for the weekend without which it could not take place. Nigel Eyre then went on to present the Guilds "Lifetime achievement Award" to Keith Hill, from the Supreme Rubber Stamp Company, a man that had been involved in the industry since 1964.

Vice President, Ian Bradbeer, thanked Mike and Jenny FitzGibbon for their tireless organising of another outstanding weekend and Kiran Mistry auctioned the table decorations, resulting in £350 being raised for the BOSS Federation's Benevolent fund - a charity specifically for the benefit of people related to the Stationery industry who have fallen on bad times. The enjoyable evening was followed by arguably the UK's number one Freddie Mercury tribute artist, Steve Littlewood. It wasn't long before he had guests on the dance floor until late into the night.

Some noteable quotes from the weekend:-

"I was very proud to be part of another very successful weekend especially as it was my first year as president. The weekend seems to go from strength to strength with delegates from many parts of the UK, Europe and the USA making it a truly international event. Its popularity means its becoming a fixture in attendee's calendars. It provides an ideal platform for networking within a framework of social and entertaining events." - Nigel Eyre, President of the RSMG

"Another excellent weekend, this time under the stewardship of our president, Nigel Eyre. With an increasing international element to the weekend we welcomed 6 visitors from Europe and 4 from the USA all of whom we hope will join us again next year. The UK RSMG is a unique and important sector of the UK Office Products industry and it is good to meet at this function to discuss topics of mutual interest in a relaxed and very sociable environment. Its also a big 'food-fest' and the menu put together by Mike Fitzgibbon was outstanding, he is meticulous in the preparation of this, almost fanatical hence the food at the gala dinner was absolutely fantastic. The Rubber Stamp Manufacturers network is a thriving special interest group of the BOSS federation! " - Ian Bradbeer, Vice President RSMG
