Public sector procurement

Share your views on how the public sector operates as a commercial partner by completing the CBI's online survey.

The UK public sector spends more than £230bn every year on goods and services. To ensure this money is well spent, public sector bodies need procurement processes that select the best solution at the best price from a diverse market of providers big and small. The CBI's 2012 survey highlighted changes already made, but also a need for more effective implementation of reforms, such as improving the public sector's commercial skills, the wider use of outcomes-based contracting and opening up markets to new providers.

This year the CBI want to find out a little more about companies' experiences doing business with the public sector: Are things getting better? Is the Government acting more as 'one customer'? Are procurements getting shorter and cheaper? Your responses will help the CBI put to government and the wider public sector the most effective ideas for improving procurement in the short and long term.

You can access the CBI's online survey here.
