BOSS Weekly Good News Update

Welcome to our weekly good news update. The BOSS Benevolent Fund is our Industry's charity - we need your help to make sure that those who are eligible are aware of it's existence and know how they can make an application for assistance. Some of your staff or past staff may need our help but do not know how to apply so please put this weekly good news up on your notice boards.

The BOSS Benevolent Fund is in place to help those within our industry who have fallen on hard times - this could be a one off payment or a quarterly grant depending on the individual circumstances.

Graeme Chapman MBE, BenFund Chairman, recently spoke at the BOSS AGM highlighting not only the need for donations and asking companies to inform their staff of www.giveasyoulive.com/join/bossbenevolentfund but also asking that the leader's of the Industry; the CEO's and MD's; ensured that their employee's both past and present were aware that if their circumstances changed they could apply for financial assistance from the BOSS Benevolent Fund.

Recently the Trustees have approved one off grants for:
Travel and accommodation expenses to a family whose grand-daughter had to go to London for an operation.
A freezer which broke down and ruined a family's food for a month.
Carpet throughout a flat for someone who could not afford the cost.
Assistance with overdue utility bills particularly for the elderly and those with disabilities.

Quarterly grants are given to those who qualify - these have been a lifeline to the recipients who depend upon them for everyday living. Below are some of comments we have received from our beneficiaries: 'Thank you for the most generous cheque I was so overwhelmed'.

'Thank you BOSS Benevolent Fund for your help in what has been a very traumatic and expensive time'.

'I would like to thank the Trustee's so much for their help it means so much to us. Without your help I do not know what we would have done, once again thank you for your kind help'.

Nobody knows what is around the corner but we want to ensure that the people who work or have worked in our Industry know that if something unforeseen happens such as illness, redundancy, bereavement or financial hardship they can apply to the BOSS BenFund for help.
