2020 bank holiday change

2020 bank holiday change

We are sympathetic and respectful of the decision to commemorate VE day, but the Government have given companies less than a years' notice, which isn't acceptable, as normally any changes to Bank Holiday are usually made with two years notice.

Several members who print calendars have got in contact with us, saying this is causing them a major problem. As well as a significant financial burden, there is also an impact on their production processes, with some having to reprint all stock or others producing VE stickers to insert.

We are aiming for compensation for businesses affected, whether they've spent money producing stickers or they're going for a full reprint - the compensation should be tailored to the company. We are currently in the process of writing to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) copying the Minister for Small Business, asking that the Government support small business and pay compensation. We have also contacted the All-Party Parliamentary Group to keep them in the loop and we're likely to use them to raise the issue in Parliament if the BEIS isn't helpful in response to our correspondence.
