Building My Skills Programme
BPIF North East members have been participating in the Building My Skills Programme, which aims to encourage schools to provide information on different industries. Presentations are given to promote the skills that are needed for apprentices in our industry, and the career opportunities available for the students.
Dave Stones, Sales and Marketing Director at, NE BPIF member, B&B Press in Rotherham, has recently taken part in this initiative, visiting and talking to students at Dancum Academy in Doncaster. He stated, "Proud to have been asked to present to a series of schools over the next couple of months for the BPIF. Excited to be able to give something back and tell more people about our magnificent sector and the great work B&B Press do on a daily basis."

80 schools are registered on the programme, each having 5 sessions with businesses which provides a total of 52,000 learning hours to schools.
In 2018/19, BPIF members delivered 10 sessions, and we would like to continue this great opportunity to grow apprentice engagement in coming years.
If you would like further information about how you could take part in this initiative in 2019/20, or local guidance on attracting apprentices, please contact Darren Shepherd at [email protected]
