Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi MP visits X1 Ltd

Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi MP visits X1 Ltd

MPs, whether they're from Government or Opposition, can provide a helping hand in so many ways. It can be directly for print companies in their constituencies across the UK or more indirectly by championing our industry in the corridors of power.

MPs often know their local areas inside out but may not be aware that you're working hard to run your business, employing local people, tackling everyday challenges and making important contributions to both local and national economies. As the vast majority of MPs spend Fridays in their constituencies, holding surgeries and visiting constituents, it's worth remembering that they do often have time to hear what you've got to say!

On Friday 27 April, MP for Slough, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, visited X1 Ltd, a BPIF member in his constituency. He was greeted by Director Tim Lance and met over twenty staff, including Level 3 apprentices Simran and Raveena. With a background working for his family business before entering Parliament, Tanmannjeet was engaged and understanding on the subject of obstacles to business growth, including late payments, business banking and costs of materials. Interested to hear that most paper supply comes from Europe, and as a 'Remain' supporter, Tanmanjeet asked to be kept updated on paper prices and how these may be affected following Brexit.

Tim Lance, Director of X1 Ltd said, "It was great to have Tan visit us and it was really interesting to hear about his own experiences before his career as an MP. The staff in particular enjoyed his visit and he was genuinely interested in hearing about their roles within the business. He also met our two apprentices and made them feel at ease, and we were able to highlight why apprenticeships are so important for our business.

"We look forward to seeing Tan again at the APPG Print Reception on July 4 at the House of Lords, which will be a great opportunity for him to catch up with X1 Ltd and learn more about how the print industry contributes to UK productivity."
