KMS Litho adds to its in-house capability

KMS Litho adds to its in-house capability

BPIF member - KMS Litho, based in Hook Norton, has recently brought lamination in house after in a recent £30k investment in a B2 Foliant Mercury 530SF supplied by IFS.

Established in 1993, KMS has a UK base of clients and produces a wide range of printed products but owner Mark Willis said, "The firm had been sending out all of its lamination prior to investing in a system a few years ago. While the existing device could handle the firms smaller format lamination we still needed to outsource our B2 laminating. Everything we were laminating was going out to trade and we were getting more and more of it so we looked to bring it all in-house."

He added, "We looked at alternatives but ultimately chose the Foliant partly due to the machines Heidelberg connections. The fact that the feeder heads were from Heidelberg was a big plus - we were also impressed with IFS and the knowledgeability of the team. Within 2 days we were up and running and putting work through the machine with no issues since." He added, "The Inprinting Unit supplied with the laminator was also another significant benefit."

Dawn Reid, the BPIF Regional Director for the area added, "This device is said to make foiling and spot varnish fast and affordable for short run and personalised print. It runs a wide range of colours included gold, silver, red and green as well as clear gloss for spot varnish. It's suitable for end uses ranging from corporate stationery to POS book covers so ideal for KMS and their client base."

Mark further added, "Foiling will allow us to offer a new value added service. It's something we are still exploring and I think it will have a place in short run digital work such as invitations and we're looking forward to developing that. The kit should also pay for itself in 18-24 months, which is great."
