BPIF fully supports National Apprenticeship Week

BPIF fully supports National Apprenticeship Week

For National Apprenticeship Week, held on the 14th -18th of March, the BPIF partnered with a team of 8 students from Dundee & Angus College, all undertaking an HND in Computer Arts and Design: Digital Arts; an animated film course to produce a video to encourage school leavers to consider an apprenticeship in print.

The video – which was extremely well-received – highlights the variety of career options available in print, the sustainability of the industry, as well as explaining how an apprenticeship can save money and expose a student to a variety of roles.

The video was sent to over 123,000 teachers and careers advisors during National Apprenticeship Week, in addition to being sent to MPs and Lords asking for their continued support of apprenticeships. The BPIF has also been encouraging their membership to share the video with local schools, and hope that the whole industry will do the same.

The BPIF currently have over 500 apprentices on their training programmes and have recently conducted two surveys, one with learners and one with employers, to assess satisfaction rates.

The apprentice survey, which included questions on the apprentices’ individual training, showed positive results. Over 94% of learners felt that they had the chance to develop new skills and over 97% felt that they were developing the skills they needed to do their job well, with one learner commenting, “it took me a little while to really get ‘stuck in’ with my course, but with my assessor's help and encouragement I feel like I'm starting to enjoy my course and seeing the benefit of what I'm learning and applying it to my job role.”

98% of apprentice employers who responded to the BPIF training survey believe BPIF Training proposed an appropriate solution to their business and training needs.
