Former BPIF President, Victor Watson CBE, dies aged 86.
Legendary Leeds businessman and president of Print Yorkshire (now CDi Print Yorkshire), Victor Watson CBE, has sadly passed away at the age of 86 after a long battle with Parkinson's.
Heir to the Waddingtons Monopoly empire, Watson was famous for playing a major role in developing the well-known board game and became known as 'Mr Monopoly'.
A former and popular president of the BPIF, Watson was the first person to receive the BPIF President's Award for Lifetime Contribution.
Born in 1928, Watson joined the Leeds-based company John Waddington Ltd in 1951, and was made chairman in 1977 until his retirement in 1993. The company subsequently developed into one of the UK's biggest print employers, Communisis.
A memorial service is expected to be held in Leeds, the details of which will be announced at a later date.
