Memorial Service to be held for OP legend, Jonathan Straker

Memorial Service to be held for OP legend, Jonathan Straker

A memorial service to pay respect to Jonathan Straker will take place on 19 November at St Bride's Church in London following the recent announcement of his passing.

Jonathan served as President of the BOSS Federation, Chairman of the BOSS Resellers Board, Master of the Stationers Guild and President of the Society of Old Friends.

Past BOSS Chairman, Ron Wotherspoon, said about Jonathan:

"For all his jovial and witty manner, Jonathan was a tough businessman as was illustrated by his long partnership with Hugh Sear as they together created one of our Trade's great Companies.

There will be many people across the industry who will have their memories of this great man, I will miss a warm human being who always had time to listen or offer wise counsel; he taught me the importance of relationships in business; by his example in BOSS, he taught us all how competitors can co-operate; through his commitment to the Stationer's Company he showed us the importance of our collective history and traditions.

Like many I shall always remember him with respect and affection, my life was richer for knowing Jonathan Straker; my thoughts are with his 'bride' Jeanne and his family."

Jonathan's son, William Straker, said about Jonathan:

"A much loved husband, father and grandfather, his humour and sense of fun will be greatly missed.

As a family we have been overwhelmed by the warmth and support shown to us by the industry and we are very grateful. He loved being a "paperclip salesmen" and would have happily stayed working as one for ever.

Whilst this is a sad time we do laugh and take comfort in knowing that Dad would be delighted that everyone's talking about him!"

The family has expressed their thanks and appreciation for all the messages of sympathy and support during this sad time.
