Eclipse 4DM invest in new Kodak Prosper S5

A fantastic investment of around £500,000 has been made by Kettering based Eclipse 4DM of new Kodak Prosper S5 inkjet overprinting heads on their 12-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster 102. Installation of 8 heads has begun already which will cover the width of the Speedmaster with production expected to be fully up and running by mind-July.

This will enable full personalisation in black at any position on the printed sheet - Simon Moore, Managing Director, Eclipse Colour added 'whilst the initial drive was the continuation of our cost effectiveness, it enables us to do something different with hybrid technology and increase our flexibility with lasered letter work during our busy times. It will support the work already done on our existing Océ VarioStream 7650 toner based continuous feed printers whilst enabling us to gain valuable experience of the inkjet technology'.

This investment will also lower the company's costs in a number of areas and provide the quality improvements it always strives to achieve by printing the cells sheetfed rather than web.
