Trio of Awards for Colchester-based Calendar Manufacturer

Trio of Awards for Colchester-based Calendar Manufacturer

At the 2016 National Calendar Awards, Colchester-based manufacturer, Rose Calendars, was delighted to receive awards in three categories. Held on 27 January in the historic Stationers Hall in London, the event recognises excellence in both corporate and retail calendar publishing, in addition to celebrating new talent coming into the industry and the best in UK cause-related calendars.

The Rose title ‘Countryside Walks Calendar’ won a trophy in the category for Corporate Stock Scenic/Landscape Calendar. This interactive calendar uses GPS technology which can be linked to an application on a device to use maps from Ordnance Survey with routes and guided notes for each walk being just one of five new interactive calendars which Rose have introduced into their range.

For the first time this year, Rose Calendars joined forces with Premier Paper to present a ‘Special Student Award’ comprising of a £250 cash prize and the manufacturing of the student’s calendar with the best commercial potential. The winner of this prestigious award for 2016 was Christian Cornell, from Blackpool & The Fylde College, for his ‘Student Lads’ Survival Calendar’.

Managing Director of Rose Calendars, Michael Rose revealed: “We are keen to encourage new blood into the industry and help launch their ideas into reality by producing a number of calendars for them to take to market to see if the idea is commercially viable.”

The National Calendar Awards ceremony was well-attended by industry colleagues, photographers, artists and students – including the rowing team from Warwick University who collected a number of awards for their own iconic naked calendar. Eamonn Holmes presented the awards with typical charismatic and entertaining flair. However, he seemed to struggle very slightly at one point when the Leeds United Calendar won an award, since he is a loyal Manchester United fan. Holmes rounded off the evening with a thoroughly amusing month by month plan for a calendar featuring both himself and his TV presenter wife, Ruth Langsford.

Rose Calendars were pleased to not only be nominated for five awards and win three, but also to sponsor a number of prestigious awards. The ‘Excellence In Production Award’ sponsored by Rose Calendars, went to the 2016 Pirelli Calendar, which having been produced for over 20 years, has become iconic in its own right. Focusing on strong women in a book-like format, the finished product will no doubt become a collector’s piece.

Rose Calendars has just launched its 2017 promotional calendar range which can be viewed at www.rosecalendars.co.uk. With 108 years of experience in the advertising calendars industry, they are hoping that this season’s range contains a few future award-winners too!

Rose Calendars won trophies for 2016 calendars in the following categories:

Corporate Stock Calendars, Animals & Natural World - Winner: Endangered Species

Corporate Stock Calendars, Scenic/Landscape - Winner: Countryside Walks

Excellence In Digital Calendars - Winner: The Master Millers
