Business Continuity Planning, otherwise known as Disaster Recovery - have you got anything in place?

Why do we need to plan? Well – the worst can and does happen, ask yourself……Do you know which of your business areas are key in ensuring you can keep your core business running in the event of a disaster? Between 60-90% of companies without a Business Continuity Plan, which suffer a key interruption, cease business within 24 months of the disaster. Those that do survive never reach the same level of business.

There are however some simple steps you can take that will make life a lot easier for you post any fire or flood type event. Equally – having a documented disaster recovery or business continuity plan can help you when pitching for work – it can give you a competitive advantage and is often a box you need to tick on tenders.

Sally Hatton-Savage has worked in this field for 7 years and now runs her own consultancy Barnabus Consulting advising companies, especially those in the printing industry, on good practice and helping them to put their plans in place. She will talk you through some things to remember when planning for the worst, and give you some ideas on how to structure any documentation.
