GI Solutions launches manila digital envelope mailpack

GI Solutions has launched a digitally printed manila envelope mailpack following Royal Mail's decision to accept mail that uses brown cardboard and paper as 'sustainable advertising mail'.

The business said the new product seeks to build on the success of its digital envelope mailpacks. It has produced 65m packs since its launch in March 2014.

The firm has created two products, the manila ‘mono' envelope and the manila ‘creative' envelope. Both use personalisation to increase open and response rates.

GI Solutions operations director Alistair Ezzy said: "At GI we like to challenge the norms of production through our equipment and identified an opportunity to create stand-out [mail] on the doormat using manila paper.

"The tests all proved successful and we now have yet another product that demonstrates our desire to help our customers achieve a better response."

Separately, five members of the company's management team were awarded The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 5 Diplomas in Management (NVQ) and Principles of Leadership & Management (VRQ) at a ceremony held in London earlier this month.

Image operations supervisor Dave Core, mailing operations supervisor Darren Lyall, image operations manager Paul Groom, imaging operations supervisor Mark Jackson and former technical manager Carl Henson all completed the five mandatory assignments.

These were ‘Understanding the management role to improve management performance', ‘Managing improvement', ‘Making a financial case', ‘Developing critical thinking' and ‘Leading innovation and change'.

Last September Lyall became the first of more than 120 students to complete the programme, a BPIF scheme launched in April 2013.

Ezzy said: "The GMP and other NVQs have added a lot of value to the business by broadening the candidates' management experience and increasing their confidence to tackle issues using the tools they have learned.

"Not only are the diplomas educational, they are also extremely motivational as well. With so much on their plates already managing and supervising a busy manufacturing facility, the guys all banded together where possible to help one another - which is a great way for a team to bond."

The qualification is nationally recognised and equivalent to foundation degree level.
