Octopus Find The Winning Recipe
Book of the Year
Winner - Eat London 2
Octopus
The British Book Design and Production Awards were unveiled on 20 November 2012 at a glittering event at the prestigious Grange St Paul's Hotel. The evening's speaker was journalist, editor, media commentator and novelist, Eve Pollard, who has justly been dubbed ‘the first lady of Fleet Street'. Throughout the evening she kept the audience in check and presented the awards to the delighted winners.
Winners on the night included Eat London 2 by Octopus which was handed the coveted award of Book of the Year. This book was chosen above the other 15 category winners because "the skills of designers and printers were vividly evident in this worthy overall winner."
Over 400 books were entered this year for the awards, which are designed to represent everything that is best in British book design and are seen as the flagship event in the industry's year.
Again, this year the judges were very impressed with the entries into the Best Student Book award category, with the eventually winner, A snippet of Sound - Gregory Pye, Norwich University College of the Arts, being praised for "a well thought out piece with great typography and beautifully hand crafted binding using locally sourced materials"
The quality of the awards this year was superb and all were delighted with the fantastic amount of entries and the brilliant production standards. The incredible standard of entries meant that the judges had a tougher choice than ever in deciding on the final list. The awards ceremony was a highly memorable night and it was wonderful to see the creativity of the entrants being rewarded.
Congratulation to the winners on their success.
