Disciplinary Hearings seem to be Rising- a recent article in the Telegraph business pages highlights why:-

Staff are less concerned about losing their jobs and about finding a new one as the economy improves- More reason to call the BPIF to advise on any issues relating to staff.

The Telegraph reports the number of employees facing formal action has risen by 15pc in the past year building on the 16pc jump over the past two years and on an 18pc surge over the past 5 years. Research provided by Ortus.

'During the recession, cost cutting and lower job security meant there was no room for complacency and therefore disciplinaries were less common. With many companies getting through the worse, HR staff have an important role to play in ensuring bas habits don't return and that companies can benefit from leaner structures and prosper more than they did before' says Nicholas Croucher from Ortus.

According to 171 senior HR staff questioned the top 5 most common reasons for a disciplinary procedures were;-

- Poor performance
