Private companies masquerading as ACAS, warns barrister

Colin Bourne a Mediator and Employment Law Barrister is warning via the social media website LinkedIn of companies who when Googled appear to be linked with the employment service ACAS.

He said:

"I have just had some clarification from my client. It appears that they Googled ACAS and got something that looked like ACAS and clicked on it. They found themselves talking to someone who offered to send someone to talk to them from Peninsula. The organisation is called Employers Direct and is funded by Peninsula. My client cancelled the appointment as they felt they had been misled. We should be doing more to alert people to this especially given Peninsula's mode of business in signing people up to lengthy contracts"
