Lord Gavron to speak at Excellence Awards

The BPIF is delighted to welcome Lord Gavron, probably the industry’s most successful businessman to date, to celebrate business excellence with the UK printing industry at its forthcoming Excellence Awards, to be held on 15 September 2003. BPIF Chief Executive Michael Johnson says: "Having met Lord Gavron, he and I share many beliefs: a commitment to focusing on profitability and competitiveness and raising standards through co-operation across our sector. I feel extremely privileged that he has accepted our invitation to share his experience with our guests and I am certain that his contribution will make this an unforgettable evening." Having founded St Ives in 1964, Bob Gavron took the company public in 1985 and consistently outperformed the market over the next 10 years. He was Chairman of the Guardian Media Group between 1997 and 2000 and is currently Chairman of the Folio Society. A great supporter of the arts, Lord Gavron has also been on the boards of the National Gallery and the Royal Opera House and is currently a Governor of the London School of Economics. Lord Gavron is also a cricket supporter and member of the MCC and therefore no stranger to the evening’s celebrity presenter, international cricketer David Gower. The Lord Gavron Award is bestowed annually on the most talented youth cricketer in Barbados. The five course gala dinner and Excellence Awards ceremony will once again be taking place at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square. Space at this five star hotel is limited so it is recommended to book your tickets early to avoid disappointment. Click here to go to the Excellence Awards area of the site.
