Business rates revaluations
If you have objections to the new business rate valuation of your property, you can take the matter up with the Valuation Office Agency. You can either call their central helpline on 0845 602 1507 or look up your local office under the “where to find us” section of their website at www.voa.gov.uk. Have the letter with your new valuation nearby. The Valuation Office will explain their reasons for the revaluation and you will be able to put forward your objections and argue for a second revaluation. Once the new rates come into effect in April 2005, you will be able to take your case to a Valuation Tribunal. This is a free, informal process for which you do not need legal representation. More information about the Valuation Tribunal process is available on the FAQ section of their website at www.valuation-tribunals.gov.uk. If you would like to consult a ratings advisor, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has a helpline that will provide the name of your nearest professionally-recognised rating surveying firm, who will provide you with up to half an hour’s free advice. Their number is 0207 222 7000.Intergraf Economic News (Paper Prices) - March 2024
