BPIF continues strong membership growth in 2006-7

The BPIF has added 84 members in the first two months of 2006-7 including 19 Celloglass sites. This strong performance follows on from the 222 members recruited in the previous year to 31 March 2006. Of the companies joining, the average workforce size is 46 with 60% joining at the highest ‘platinum’ level. New members come from all sectors of the industry including packaging, newspaper printing, in house operations, commercial print and magazines. “Comparisons of profitability of printing companies in the sector conducted in 2005-6 suggested that, on average, BPIF member companies outperform the industry in general. As more and more companies take advantage of the wide range of BPIF services, we are better positioned to achieve our mission of improving the profitability and competitiveness of the sector,” says BPIF deputy chief executive Cicely Brown.
