BGP invests in new Komori 16pp cover press

The press, which will shortly be installed, is a Komori System 38 SII 6 unit web offset press, capable of producing 50,000 covers per hour.

The new 16pp press can produce UV covers as flat sheets or 4pp folded covers for saddle stitching. It is also capable of producing “Tabloid”, “Double Parallel” and “Delta Fold” products.

The installation provides a very efficient in-line method of production, giving BGP more flexibility with schedules, and allows the business to produce UV covers at circa 120k cph, and reduces the need to fold covers “Off Line”

The Komori has been purchased through UK & Eire printing equipment supplier, JanusTech. In addition, the Komori also features auto-plate loading, auto folder change-over, and a PressTech 1400 automatic colour register system and cut-off control. It will also be fitted with a new GMI closed loop colour control system, along with a host of other state-of-the-art features.

Speaking about the investment in the cover press, BGP Chief Executive David Holland stated, “This investment in the Komori cover press further underlines our commitment as we continue to increase and add to our client roster. Our business vision continues to be maintaining a first-class production facility, delivering high-quality work to our customers in an efficient and cost-effective manner.”
