BPIF CEO Admitted to the Livery
On Tuesday 5 October, Charles Jarrold, CEO of the BPIF, and BPIF member Richard Mawson, MD CyanX, were admitted to the Livery of the Stationers’ Company at a court meeting held in the magnificent Armourers’ Hall.
The event was held at Armourers’ Hall as the Stationers’ Hall is undergoing an £8m. overhaul in readiness for the future. The Stationers’ Company is a City of London Livery Company with around 1,000 members. A Company with a strong enduring reputation, striving to be the most effective independent business and social forum for the communications and content industries, actively contributing to the strategic development, success, and education of these industries.
History was made when both Charles and Richard were presented by Robert McClements, President of CDI, a BPIF Special Interest Group. It was the first time in the Company’s 600 years that two candidates had been presented by the same person.
Charles proposed the toast on behalf of the guests and commented that he is following in the family tradition as his uncle, Peter Jarrold, was a member of the Company. Charles added “I was delighted to be proposed and accepted as a Liveryman into the Stationers Company – personally it was nice to be following a bit of family history, but more importantly, because I’ve seen how active the Company is in developing all kinds initiatives around skills and apprenticeships in particular, where they are really active in promoting the career opportunities in our sector, as well as hosting really engaging and interesting events across all sorts of related disciplines, which I think benefit us all”.
A successful evening all round. For further information on stationers https://www.stationers.org/ and Armourers Hall https://www.armourershall.co.uk/ take a look on their websites.
