Too often print and paper is vilified as wasteful or causing deforestation, with organisations misleading consumers with environment messages to move them to online communications and away from printed documents. Research by Two Sides shows, if left unchallenged, £22.4 million of value of print, paper and mail is at risk. These negative messages threaten our industry which employs more than 100,000 people in 7,400 businesses.
Jonathan Tame, Managing Director of Two Sides will chair the roundtable. He will give first hand example of greenwashing by brands (Like British Gas, a fossil fuel energy company telling customers going paperless will somehow save the planet) and how this contravenes UK advertising regulations. And what our industry is doing, and must do, to protect ourselves against these misleading and damaging claims.
Are you greenwashing?
But are we also guilty of greenwashing in our own communications? Do we use words in our own marketing like……environmentally friendly, PVC free, help the planet… which is simply “marketing puff”, and not borne out by substance? Jonathan will cover the topline rules on green claims and encourage discussion and debate on our own marketing and responsibilities.
Join the roundtable for a lively discussion. The power is in our own hands to call out organisation to remove misleading statements, but also to be responsible in our own communications.
