ALI confirms raising of BPIF Training standards

Following the last Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) inspection of BPIF Training in 2003, the department has implemented a series of improvements following a post-inspection development plan. A reassessment on the basis of these changes confirms considerable improvement and a raising of standards in a number of areas, primarily in retention and achievement of candidates on BPIF Training programmes. Of the three possible judgements, BPIF Training received the highest possible outcome – ‘Improving Quality’. The inspectors commented on an improvement in the use of initial assessment to develop learners’ training programmes and basic skills assessment. Internal verification has improved and assessments plans are now better designed and more detailed. Progress reviews have also improved, better identifying targets for learners. ALI noted that BPIF quality assurance measures have improved as has learner monitoring and the promotion of equality of opportunity. BPIF head of training Ruth Exelby is pleased but un-surprised by the results, "Everyone in the department has worked very hard in the last 3 years to make on-going improvements in our training provision, which were first recognised in the reinspection in Oct 2003 and now been confirmed with this inspection. There are always improvements to be made but I am proud of our achievements to date and am confident we are now providing the top class service our learners and their employers deserve."
