MCC Labels achieve Zero to Landfill certification
MCC Labels, based at Drayton Fields in Daventry, have added to their prestigious range of print certificates with yet another! They have achieved the Zero to Landfill certification and were presented with their award by Dawn Reid, the BPIF's Regional Director for the Midlands.
Dawn stated, "This is great news for the MCC team who have worked hard to achieve this certification. The project was initially instigated by BPIF Labels and Prismm Environmental back in April 2013 and is designed to reduce the amount of production waste going to landfill by diverting this waste to energy recovery - it's been a great success."
Zero Labels to Landfill was devised by Prismm with the help of BPIF Labels as an alternative waste disposal solution for the label industry. The scheme introduces the segregation of all label waste and consequent mass reduction in general waste output. Segregation of this material then enables Prismm to source alternative recovery routes for the remaining general waste, other than landfill. The scheme sees around 10,000 tonnes of label waste being diverted from landfill annually.
