Latest issue of Invision is online - another jam-packed essential information bulletin

The BPIF has announced the release of the second edition of Invision, its new three minute information video that goes out to BPIF members, keeping them up to date by covering everything from news to events, awards and courses.

The latest edition of Invision contains information and news on early law changes concerning pre-pack companies, an important VAT change of marketing for print, plus an invitation to join the Government’s Red Tape Challenge.

A follow-up is also provided on the Excellence Awards. Following last month’s extension for members to enter the Excellence Awards the record number of entries has been smashed, so members should hurry to book their tables and tickets at the “must attend” event on 15 June at Cafe de Paris in London.

Invision also contains two pieces of news from Europe; however the news is not great. Despite lobbying from the BPIF, the EU Commission is going ahead with duties on the importing of fine paper from China. This will mean tariffs on the importing of paper, but not on printed matter. This could create an uneven playing field as it could encourage more printing to be carried out in the Far East.

There is also news on cookies, as new EU Privacy legislation is arriving on 25 May that will require all business to gain permission from website visitors before they insert cookies. Cookies are the little files that a website puts onto your computer so that it remembers you when you visit the site again next time.

And for those of you involved in cross media, there is also news on the biggest cross media event to be held in the UK later in the year, fully supported by the BPIF. This will be held at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London.

There’s also news on courses, with Marketing for Printers taking place in Brighouse and the Digital Marketing Conference at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford.

Another major highlight is the launch of the new online Sales Academy Training by the BPIF. It’s a high quality, modular, online sales training facility - at a price and time that works.

There is also a round-up from Health and Safety Legal and HR. Information is provided on CE; a complete lowdown on training obligations for machinery; in the field of HR there is an update chart on the main NI work related benefits for 2011 and 2012; details on apprentice employment rights and an easy guide to tax termination payments.

And finally from the world of law there is the big story – the abolition of Default Age Retirement at 65, which does have some serious implications – so please take a look at this news item.

So that’s all contained within your latest packed issue of Invision.

Invision is sent out every month to accompany the BPIF’ e-news bulletin. It will aim to keep the membership abreast of the latest events and happenings concerning the BPIF and its members.

The video is designed to be a lively news and information bulletin combining snippets of the content covered within the monthly e-news bulletin.

Invision is presented by BPIF Marketing Coordinator and Sub Editor of Inprint, Amy Hutchinson.
