BPIF Northern Ireland Golf Day & Dinner 2015
Despite some late inclement weather forecast induced cry-offs we had a successful and enjoyable golf day on Friday 31st July. The weather, as it turned out, held until the very end and some very good golf scorecards were returned. A very big thank you must go to Graphic & Paper Merchants Ireland for their continued and valued sponsorship for this event.
This was the 97th year for what must surely must be one of Ireland’s oldest golf societies (inaugurated in 1919 as the Northern Ireland Printing industries Association Golfing Section). Once again Shandon Park Golf Club in Belfast bas beautifully turned out and the golf and craic, as they say, was mighty!
Congratulations to must go to Paul Muise from Minprint for achieving an excellent score to win the Challenge Trophy; and also to Ernest Culley from Impro Printing for winning the Stanley Little Rose Bowl (Director's Trophy).
Thanks to everyone for attending and supporting this event and helping to make it a great day and evening; and to all the staff at Shandon Park Golf Club for providing a course in excellent condition and such a helpful and accommodating environment. Another thank you must go to Clanconnel Brewing Company for the lovely bottles of McGrath’s Irish Ales and branded beer glasses which accompanied every attendee home.
A provisional date of 10 June 2016 has been set for next year’s event (tee-offs from 13:00; once again at Shandon Park) – please put this date in you diaries and encourage your colleagues to get involved. We are hoping that we will be able to get a team across from the BPIF’s North Western region to compete with a Northern Ireland team for the Iddon Sherlock trophy.
