Guardian hosts BPIF Health & Safety Forum

In January, BPIF South Eastern Region held a free Health & Safety Forum for its members...  but with a difference!  

The event was hosted by The Guardian at their Stratford, East London site and was well attended by fellow BPIF members with differing production backgrounds. The purpose of the event was to focus on health & safety as a benchmarking opportunity, sharing ideas and formats with an aim to deliver a smarter way of approaching health & safety. 

The Forum opened up with an update from The Guardians'  Health & Safety Manager, taking the group through how the site operates, outlining how the machinery is continually inspected and maintained, and the importance of monitoring high risk activities on site and controlling these to prevent injury.  

This was then followed by a tour of the site to see the plans in action - it was amazing to see the expanse of the site, it's preparation of the Web Press through to the delivery end of the final article, all with safety in mind. 

The group then took a review of the tour to share best practice amongst members; discussing various topics which members found useful which could be taken back to their respective sites to improve safety.
