Shadow enterprise Minister supports BPIF Print Portal

Mark Prisk MP, Shadow Enterprise Minister, described plans for the BPIF’s Print Portal as "an excellent idea" during a visit to constituent Stephen Austin & Sons Ltd to discuss public sector buying processes. The meeting, organised by the BPIF and attended by Mark Prisk MP, Stephen Austin Managing Director Rory Fowler and BPIF Chief Executive Michael Johnson, raised the issue of the substantial volume of paperwork required by many public sector buyers, including an inch-thick booklet of price matrices recently requested by a central Government department.

Mark Prisk welcomed the BPIF’s proposal for an online portal that would allow suppliers and buyers to leapfrog the cumbersome information requirements of public sector buying. "We have identified public procurement as a key area in which we can streamline the system. The proposal for an online portal is a very interesting one and I look forward to working with the BPIF to take the project forward."
