BPIF helps promote Government good communications

The BPIF is once again supporting the Good Communications Awards that aim to promote and encourage the public sector’s efforts towards improving communication with its citizens and its workforce. If you print for your local council, encourage them to enter! Local Authorities and central government departments are being invited to showcase their communications projects for the 2006 Good Communication Awards, which takes place on June 22nd at the London Heathrow Marriott and is hosted by Hillingdon Council. The four award categories (print, public relations, IT and Telecoms) will recognise the organisations and individuals that have demonstrated effectiveness and innovation. Local and Central Government departments are responsible for selecting the most effective language and communication channels for diverse audiences. The inaugural awards in 2005 attracted over 160 entrants from the UK public sector, with many entries standing out as examples of best practice. New awards for 2006 include the Strategic Communications Campaign Award - presented to the Local Authority or Government organisation that can demonstrate how its communications strategy has delivered measurable changes in public perception or customer behaviour. In the IT category, the Takeup Award will be presented to the Local Authority that can best demonstrate effectiveness in increasing the takeup of its online services in order to deliver efficiencies.
