Fedrigoni’s day out with Trees for Cities

In February 2020 the Fedrigoni UK team and some very supportive customers spent a day in Hackney Marshes planting 550 new trees with Trees for Cities. A charity which Fedrigoni has been supporting by raising money through the sale of the Fedrigoni 366 Calendar.

With half of the world's population now living in urban environments according to the BBC, and many more of us are travelling in congested areas than ever before, the World Health Organisation say 9 out of 10 of us frequently breathe in dangerous levels of polluted air. It's for this reason that Fedrigoni (who has a London Studio just 4.7 miles away from Hackney) took the step to aid in the planting of trees locally - which according to Greenpeace helps to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air.

Fedrigoni's environmental policy embraces the entire process of production as well as procurement of raw materials minerals, energy, water and its commitment to the environment globally and locally. This was just one way in which the Fedrigoni UK team could show their support towards the Fedrigoni Group's environmental commitments.

Trees for Cities
The only charity working on an international scale to create greener cities. They strengthen communities through volunteering and inspire children to grow and eat good food.

Trees for Cities worked in partnership with Fedrigoni, the London Borough of Hackney and Honest Organic to plant a new area of 6500 edible trees within Hackney Marshes. These trees will create a new edible woodland and will add to the existing woodland edge and provide additional habitat and food sources for urban wildlife. Once established these trees will provide edible produce such as hazel nuts, cherryplum and medlar fruits for local people to explore and harvest!
