H&H Reeds Printers – 140 Miles of Success for Macmillan

H&H Reeds Printers – 140 Miles of Success for Macmillan

140 Miles of Success for Macmillan.

Staff at H&H Reeds Printers reached huge personal milestones during their 140-mile-long charity marathon in Cumbria.

After seven days of cycling, running and walking, H&H Reeds Printers are proud to announce they have completed their 140-mile relay around Cumbria. With donations still being received, the company has already raised in excess of £1000 for their chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support. Despite the demanding route, and some of the hottest weather ever seen, this relay was both a huge success and a personal journey for many of the 24 members of staff who took part.

Starting on Monday 2nd July from the H&H Reeds Printers Penrith office, this challenging fundraising initiative took the team throughout Cumbria, with stopping off points in Carlisle, Borrowdale, Keswick, Milnthorpe, Kendal and Ullswater, before finishing back at Penrith on Tuesday 10th July.

Organisers Molly Blackburn, Project & Marketing Manager for H&H Reeds Printers and Katie Thompson, Account and Marketing Assistant for H&H Reeds Printers, had planned for most eventualities but they did not expect a heatwave. From this great amount of sunshine, more members of staff had asked to join in, and of course, routes were found for them to do so.

Speaking afterwards, Molly, who started the relay off with a six-mile run though Penrith, said: "This event was a true success and an honour to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, remembering our long-serving director, Malcolm Warwick. We have been so lucky with this weather and we are delighted that almost every member of staff wanted to carry on after completing their leg of the relay, showing the true determination of each member.

We have met many customers on the route, and we had great engagement with Cranstons, David Allen, The Cumberland and Lake District Estates, to name a few."

On the first leg of the route, Molly meet with Gordon Rigg, whose great grandfather, George Reed, founded Reeds in 1878, and he himself was Managing Director for over 25 years and opened Reeds Stationers at 46 King Street in 1983. Over the last 140 years, H&H Reeds Printers have evolved extensively with new technology and continuously offer commitment, customer care and support.
Throughout their journey, H&H Reeds Printers kept their followers up to date using social media; showcasing the businesses and people they met along the way.
"From all of us at H&H Reeds Printers, we would like to say a huge well done to those who took part, a massive thank you to those who have donated so far and to the outstanding team at Macmillan Cancer Support, who go out of their way to help those in need", concludes Molly.
