Further investment at Emmerson Press

Further investment at Emmerson Press

Midland BPIF member, Emmerson Press in Kenilworth, has brought on board further finishing kit by way of a Foliant Mercury laminator via IFS with a view to moving into a new market space.

The company, which was the first in the UK to install a Fujifilm Jet Press has added the finishing kit to enable them to bring lamination in house along with its existing mix of both litho and digital services.

The commercial printer said it previously outsourced this work to a local company, but often had to add 24 hours to its lead times and the supplier's minimum charge impacted the cost-effectiveness of short-run jobs. The new machine was selected for its small footprint and foiling capabilities.

Managing Director Paul Heath added, "The laminator helps with our schedule but also with our bottom line as we do a lot of pub menus, brochure covers  the sort of things that are always laminated.

"This allows us to turn around the work much quicker and the foiling has helped us add an extra dimension to our offering  including the ability to personalise the foil.

Now it has been installed, we are in the process of setting up a logistic mailing division and shopping around for new presses, as well as looking at getting in a new stitching line. There's a lot going on for us at the moment! The foiling capabilities also makes the process fast and affordable on short-run and personalised print, in colours such as gold, silver, red and green, as well as a clear gloss for spot varnishing."

BPIF Regional Director for the area, Dawn Reid added, "This is another great investment for Emmerson, who're based not far from our Midland Head Office. The company has continued to invest over the time they've been members, bringing in some really cutting edge equipment too."
