Carbon Balanced Paper

Carbon Balanced Paper

A simple way to add real value to your customers, helping them reduce the impacts of their printed communications.

Corporate Business, Government and the Public Sector are focused on reducing their environmental impacts. The paper industry leads with environmental solutions such as using Recycled fibres, FSC or PEFC Chain of Custody certified paper. Paper is renewable and recyclable and therefore inherently sustainable.

However, organisations today are increasingly focused on limiting their carbon emissions and effects on climate change. Carbon Balanced Paper is a simple way for printers to add real value to their clients, helping them reduce the carbon impacts of their marketing communications and achieve their carbon reduction objectives. And, using the highly recognisable World Land Trust logo on their printed communications, conveys their Corporate Responsibility.

Balancing is delivered by World Land Trust, an international conservation charity, who offset carbon emissions through the purchase and preservation of high conservation value land.

Through protecting standing forests, under threat of clearance, carbon is locked in that would otherwise be released. These protected forests are then able to continue absorbing carbon from the atmosphere, referred to as REDD (Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation). This is now recognised as one of the most cost-effective and swiftest ways to arrest the rise in atmospheric CO2 and global warming effects. Additional to the carbon benefits is the flora and fauna this land preserves, including several species identified at risk of extinction on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, including the Red-shank Douc (pictured).

Sir David Attenborough, Patron of the World Land Trust says, "The money that is given to World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of."

The total amount of CO2e Balanced and land area preserved is quantified in a unique certificate, which you can provide to your clients to help them with their environmental reporting and marketing.

Carbon Balanced Paper is available across all your paper needs, through an expanding network of partners and distributors including, paper merchants; Denmaur Independent Papers, Antalis and Fedrigoni.

Since its launch in 2013 more than 2,000 organisations in the UK have now used Carbon Balanced Paper, balancing more than 160,000 tonnes of CO2e and protecting 14,500 acres of threatened habitat with World Land Trust. This is the equivalent land area of 8,200 football pitches, balancing the annual emissions of more than 41,000 cars.
