Snapshot of the printing industry since 2010
Begbies Traynor Red Flag have analysed data from the printing industry and have put together information specifically for the BPIF and the printing industry, showing a snapshot of the performance of our sector from 2010 to the present day, by looking at key areas such as the health of companies, insolvencies and dissolutions.
The first area that was looked at was companies' health per quarter which showed that:
- 71% decline in companies in bad health (red)
- Virtually unchanged number of companies in median health (amber)
- 200% increase in companies in good health (green)
- 30% increase in total population made up entirely of companies in good health (green)
Company health per region was also looked at for the first quarter of 2018, which showed a many positive results with London the only region showing more amber than green.
They also looked at the 'distress' in each region for Q4 of 2017 compared to Q3 of 2017 and also Q4 of 2016.
Next area to be looked at was insolvencies, our industry has gone through a lot of changes over the years and unfortunately this has resulted in quite a large amount of insolvencies, however for the final quarter of 2017 insolvencies had reduced.
Incorporations and dissolutions across our industry were also looked at showing, a 900% increase in dissolutions in 2017 and a 50% increase in incorporations in 2017.
To give a more precise view of what has been happening over the last 2 years, this information was then broken down into regions for 2016 and 2017 which shows a complete contrast between the two years in dissolutions and incorporations.
