Intergraf’s Magazine Seminar – sponsored by manroland web systems – took place today at The Hotel in Brussels. The seminar was 2018’s edition of our annual ‘Shaping the Future of Print’ event series, organised in cooperation with Smithers Pira. At the seminar today, there were a range of speakers who dealt with various facets of the magazine industry – from branding and the importance of strong content, to current trends in advertising and technology and case studies on various successful titles – such as The Economist (presented by Nicolas Sennegon) and The Journal of the Norwegian Medical Association (presented by Einar Ryvarden). Other speakers included Anna Herold (European Commission), Sean Smith (Smithers Pira), James Hewes (FIPP), Chris Kerwin (BBC Worldwide), Collin Muller (Burda), Josef Aumiller (manroland), Markus Kaufmann (Druckhaus Kaufmann), Ranj Begley (Readly) and Daniel Knapp (IHS Markit) – as well as Intergraf’s President Cees Verweij (KVGO). More information will be shared with you about the outcomes of this seminar in due course.

The BPIF have been working with Intergraf for many years – we are of the founding members of the organisation preceding Intergraf: the International Bureau of the Federations of Master Printers founded in 1930.

Dale Wallis, BPIF’s Membership Director has been a member of the Intergraf Steering Committee since 2013 and became Chairman in 2017. The Steering Committee play a crucial role in Intergraf's work, by putting into practice strategic decisions made by the Board such as implementing new legislation and supporting members. Dale commented, "During my time as Chairman I would like to see a blueprint for future skills for the industry, and a project to provide a toolbox of ideas, collateral and support mechanisms to encourage young people into our industry. I am sure that with the wealth of experience and enthusiasm in the Steering Committee we can develop something great between us, which will support our members in the foreseeable future."
