Employee owned business
Congratulations to Tomlinson Ltd, a BPIF member based in Leicester, on recently becoming an employee owned business.
Tomlinson, which was formed in 1927, has celebrated 90 years in business. The company, which produces hot foil stamping and embossing dyes in a variety of metals, has been based at its Oakland Road premises since 1964. Managing Director Lynne Tomlinson-Hands, grand-daughter of the founder, also has a seat on the Midland Regional Board.
Lynne said, "Our business is based on quality and customer service. You can only deliver this with the input of the whole company, so when considering an exit strategy leaving the business in the hands of the team to continue this ethos seemed a logical thing to do." While Lynne will still be involved in the business for the immediate future, three new directors have been appointed to take the business forward; Ginger Singh Kauldhar, Business Development Director, who has just returned from a very successful Labelexpo, Jon Colburt, Production Director and Jim Littler, Finance Director.
Dawn Reid, Regional Director for the area, added, "The company is a market leader in a specialist sector, so it's great news that the employees now have an overt vested interest in the business and maintaining their great reputation going forward."

Slight recovery of output and orders falls short of expectations in Q4 - confidence concerns mount in 2024
22 February 2024
Performance in the UK's printing and printed packaging industry did improve in Q4, as far as output and orders are concerned. However, it didn't come close to what would historically be considered the seasonal norm, nor quite match the subdued expectations for Q4.
The BPIF is the printing industries champion. By becoming a member you join a diverse and influential community. We help you solve business problems, connect you to new customers and suppliers and make your voice heard in government.
