William Gibbons & Sons invest in 5 new apprentices
Following a huge £6m investment in new equipment over the past 2 years, William Gibbons have in addition invested in 5 new apprentices into the Willenhall based business who specialise in printing magazines, catalogues, DM, finishing and mail enclosing.
In addition, Mark Gibbons co-MD at the 145 year old family run business has invested his own time in becoming an Apprentice Ambassador via their local school Wednesfield High School.
Mark stated "As specialists in high-quality colour magazines and promotional print, we need to continually evolve our business to maintain this. Training internal staff and bringing new members into the team who we can train over time is a valuable way of ensuring this evolution". Judith Houston of the BPIF's HR team who assisted William Gibbons in the process having recently completed a Level 5 qualification herself added "the quality of applicants we have seen through this recruitment project has been excellent, the candidates are now board and keen to learn".
Dawn Reid, the Regional Director for the Midlands also added "this whole initiative was started with a view to bringing new members into the William Gibbons team over the next few years, therefore building ongoing relationships with local schools through Mark's Ambassador role is fantastic. The company has already held an ‘open morning' taking a group of keen local youngsters around the plant to give them a flavour of a real print work environment.
The cohort of new employees will now be signed up for apprenticeships through the BPIF, for further information on BPIF apprenticeships, please contact: [email protected]
