TRIAD electricity charges are back again - be prepared

The TRIAD season began on 1st November 2015.

This is when the National Grid looks back on a four-month winter period to find the three half-hour periods when electricity demand was highest in the UK. They then calculate the average peak demand for each local energy operator across the UK, who in turn charge electricity suppliers. This amount is then charged to customers, depending on how much the consumer has used.

Consumers with itemised half hourly invoices should reduce demand during times of national peak demand to significantly reduce cost. Those that use high amounts of electricity may be charged more than usual, as a separate item on the bill. Energy suppliers can give customers warning on possible high-demand periods.

Schneider Electric's TRIAD Management service includes warnings throughout the TRIAD season and reporting packages to help consumers monitor performance, measure response and manage their exposure throughout the TRIAD season.
