Friedheim Packaging wins Varo deal

Friedheim Packaging wins Varo deal

Another European leader joins the Friedheim ranks. Varo the Specialist machinery builder from Denmark has been making a name for itself in the biggest factories in Europe and throughout the world.

Founded in 1935, The VARO Group is a management owned company with 100 employees based in the town of Hornslett. VARO develops and manufactures customized and standardized production equipment and automation solutions.

In response to an increasing demand for flexible automation in high throughput environments, Friedheim are bringing two standout solutions to the UK.

The Pallet Unwrapper – one of few missing links in today’s automated factories, the system accepts pallets at its base then measures them, cuts through the wrapping without harming the contents, and finally removes the wrapping for recycling. This is done without the need for human operation or interaction. So far, the launch of the product has seen some of the largest packaging sites in Europe sit up and take note - resulting in a sale to the European site of an American Fortune 500 company and a number of trials.

The E-com Packer – The secret weapon of northern Europe’s biggest brands, brings productivity in a modular bang-for-buck not seen before in the e-commerce packaging industry. The machines are available in two sizes: The E-com Packer 900 has one line with one cover size (up to A3/Tabloid). It can pack up to 900 ready to ship units per hour and can handle multiple items. The VARO E-com Packer 1800 has two lines and can simultaneously pack up to 1,800 units per hour in two different cover sizes, also handling multiple items.

Reference sites for the E-packer solution have claimed an 5x leap in productivity with a personnel cost reduction of 80%, while packaging material costs halved.

Martin Howells, UK Sales Manager for Friedheim’s Packaging Division believes “the new Varo range of equipment will be a great benefit to all our existing and new customers.

The Varo E-Com Packer will allow our E-Commerce customers an alternative to the existing box closing or lidding machines available in the market at present.  The immediate 50% minimum saving on cardboard consumption and the impressive speeds of up to 1,800 packs per hour will reduce packaging costs and help with the labour shortage issues, experienced by everyone at present.

The Varo Pallet Unwrapper is a game changer when it comes to stretch film removal, which can be both time-consuming and at times, hazardous to operators.  The system allows customers to reduce breakages, decrease forklift truck movements and removes the stretch film for immediate recycling.”

Friedheim look forward to offering these solutions to UK based organizations who require the same improvements in automation to enhance productivity and efficiency.
