Wellbeing Programme at Baker Labels

Wellbeing Programme at Baker Labels

Baker Labels is a leading trade label manufacturer based in Brentwood. Established in North East London in 1973, the company moved to their current Essex location in 2011 and have more than doubled their staff numbers since then. Staying at the forefront of the label print industry through continual investment in the latest equipment has been a major factor in the company’s success, but investment in their staff wellbeing is proving to be just as valuable.

“People are Bakers’ greatest assets and we invest a great deal in the growth and development both professionally and personally to ensure we have motivated, skilled, loyal employees.” Says Steve Baker, Managing Director.

Bakers Academy was created to centralise training and professional development of all staff, current and new. Building confidence, developing skills, and a providing better understanding of how the business works and the roles they play.

Organised social and sporting events improve team spirit as well as encouraging healthy activity. This year so far they have held a Quiz Night, Comedy Bingo, run the Brentwood Half Marathon & Fun Run, entered a Mud Run, competed in 6-a-side football and are currently in training for the National 3 Peaks Challenge. Later this year there are plans for Top Golf and an Escape Room challenge. The company gym built on the premises in 2021 allows anyone working at Bakers to stay fit and active.

In addition, fresh fruit is provided daily and there is mental health support through trained workplace Mental Health First Aiders and the provision of external counselling. It’s a great place to work and the various Employer of the Year Awards are testament to that. With a drive to recruit more youth into the print industry, Baker Labels is going in the right direction.
