Plastic Packaging Tax FAQ’s

Plastic Packaging Tax FAQ’s

The HMRC has released Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) FAQ’s to help companies understand the new legislation. Click below to download.

If you are a business that manufactures or imports plastic packaging, including if you import packaging that already contains goods (such as plastic bottles), there are things you should do now to prepare for the tax.

The primary legislation for Plastic Packaging Tax is in law and forms part 2 of the Finance Act 2021. Plastic Packaging Tax becomes legislation in April 2022 – the gov.uk provides a high-level overview of Plastic Packaging Tax. Find more information on the scope of the tax, who is liable to register and pay, and other requirements.

The BPIF will provide members with PPT insight, guidance and support to ensure that you are fully aware of the legislation and what you have to do if it affects you.
