Four Day Week An Overwhelming Success For Wigan Packaging Business
Wigan based, Belmont Packaging is adopting a four-day working week across the business after an initial trial period with their production team proved to be an overwhelming success.
The company, which specialises in plain and printed corrugated cardboard packaging solutions, will be joining a growing trend of businesses adopting this new approach to working.
Belmont and its e-commerce business, Boxed-Up, began trialling the four-day working week in their manufacturing department in late 2019 with a desire to give employees more time to focus on themselves, their mental health and their loved ones.
The change proved a big hit with staff and is being rolled out to the rest of the business from Monday, September 20th.

In order to further recognise this, and to lead the way in employee health and wellbeing, we are delighted to announce an industry-leading change to ways of working which is intended to give our employees a better work-life balance while allowing us to continue giving our customers the first-class products and service they are accustomed to”.
Throughout the UK and beyond, a change in public attitudes has led to a growing demand for better work/life balance, with Scotland, Ireland and Spain all in stages of trialling a shorter workweek. As well as improving employee wellbeing, research has shown that staff are more productive when they work fewer hours.
